| Mine depends on how well I'm playing.
If I'm playing well I'll practice between 4 and 8 hours.
If I'm playing bad, then I tend to walk away as I feel a bad practice won't really do anything for my game.
Touch wood, I've only had 1 of those so far and it was getting that bad I just put my darts away and left it. Next day when I went back to it I was back on form. |

| I personally stagger my practice throughout the day
There is no sens practicing for 2 hours straight if you fins it gets boring. Im different to alot there in the UK. If I dont feel like practicing I wont forve myself to as I know Ill be worse for it.
I have often been sitting down then got up, picked up my darts and went into the practice are and thrown for maybe 5 minutes or an hour, then put my darts down but on average I still get in the amount of time I personally need a day.
I practcie the following BULLS DOUBLES COMBINATION FINISHES & BOBS 27's |

Im quite similar to that I also stagger my time alot of the time for long sessions but thats mainly down to my practice enviroment i train in a very very very cold and damp garage so i have to come in and get a cup of tea or something to warm my hands otherwise id probably go 5 hours straight |

Nothing worse than trying to play darts with cold hands.

| i do blow on my hands after every throw and it helps big time you just blow warm arm on them and get the fingers grippy if you blow cold air your hands get wet and the darts go everywhere it sounds funny but its true haha |

| Hi all, brand spanking new to this forum - have to say really helpful people and advice on here - good work.
I currently use the Uniscore online scorer to practice 'match settings' - wondering what others think of this as a practice method?
Just starting to take darts really seriously over the last couple of months and practicing about 2-3 hours twice on a weekend, and maybe an hour every other night time permitting during the week. Hoping to get confidence and average up to join a team soon.
Out of interest, according the the uniscore my 3 dart average is around 55-58, and generally hit a treble every other 3 darts (stry to 1 and 5 a lot) and rarely need more than 3 darts to hit a double - what are peoples thoughts on this type of standard?

My thoughts on that standard are, why are you not playing in the local pub league ?. with that average as long as it is including your doubles is not bad for pub darts at all and will only now get better from actaully playing opponents and then joining the learning curb that is controling your nerves, emotions and arm.
Seriously practise makes perfect is the old cliche but never a true word spoken, the problem with practising on your own is that it is not pushing you enough, You need to get beaten to get better. ( and i dont mean Steve) You need to learn to cope under pressure and thats where the pub darts will get you up a notch, Once your winning regularly ( forget about average, its about hitting them doubles and getting the win ) then you should start looking at superleague and beyond, Get yourself to some opens and knockouts, all great experience and you can meet some great people and make lifetime friends from it.
Good luck with everything. |
