PostSubject: Has anyone seriously considered going pro?   Wed Jun 09, 2010 10:04 am

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone on here had considered ever having a year on the pro tour and trying to crack the pro game?

I have only been playing for 7 weeks but I have hit my 1st 180, had numerous 18 dart legs and 1 day would love to give it a go.

Has anyone done this that could give me any advice? Costs associated? How to go about getting a sponsor? What life is really like on the road etc etc.

I am not daft and I know many try and not many make it but I would always be thinking what if!!

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I allways told me sen thy if I eve felt I wa good enough I would have Crack at the big time. But it's costly you need a good backer and have the time to put toward the game. What I would say to you is give it 12 months keep playing and practising enter as many opens as you can an join as many teams as you can, then in 12 months time if youvatestill on love with the game then look into avin a crack at the big time but prepare ya sen as if it all goes wrong you need to make sure you are ok...

its good that you have self belief coz you need that and need it in abundance but you need more than 18 dart legs to be a pro. i was playing in a comp on friday night just county and good player standard, nearly every game i played in in the later stages was 15-18 darts consistantly but its the keeping your cool and digging in and hitting the winning double even if its in 27darts that counts. when i carry out my practice regime i regularly hit cosecutive 180`s but its a different story in an open or comp in a venue full of people!! nevertheless stick in see how it goes play in every comp and open you can afford to get in a local pub team because only match practice will make you a winner. happy darting

I have never considered the pro circuit cos I like to keep my goals small and achieveable. One step and a time, and each step forward is another boost to the confidence, and you can say that you have a achieved lots of small things in the game rather that failing in the big one!

I started out joining a local league team and first goal was to win the first league game, then I enterd the single ko's and next step for to win it, then win in back to back seasons, then county selection, first county win, etc etc

Might be small bites of the cherry but so far I have achived everything I set out to do so I'm a happy darter and I've enjoyede it every step on the way.
